Brian Harris
Brian Harris served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, Central America from 1997-1999.  As a Health Specialist he was assigned to Cane, La Paz, a small pueblo in Western Honduras. Brian's project - HIV & AIDS / Child Survival enabled him to partner with health care professionals including clinicians and representatives from the Ministry of Health.
Together they addressed public health issues and concerns such as malnutrition, dengue fever and low birth weight to name a few.  Using guidelines established by the Ministry of Health Brian trained and certified health volunteers and midwives on various health topics in Cane, La Paz and its surrounding aldeas (villages).
Immediately after Peace Corps service Brian dedicated his time and energy to migrant and seasonal farmwokers in the southeast region of the United States.  Brian provided direct services including basic health screenings to farmworkers and their families, technical assistance to migrant health programs, including the training of outreach workers and clinicians and the development of handbooks and outreach manuals.
Currently, Brian works for the United States Peace Corps as a regional recruiter in the New York Regional Office.  Brian received a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from North Carolina Central University and a Master of Science in Health Education from Miami University.  Brian is a founding member of the Minority Peace Corps Association.
