Washington, DC to Philly by
Amtrak
Getting from Washington, DC to Philadelphia by train
is a snap. You stay on one train
and it takes somewhere from an hour and half to two hours depending upon what
time of day you want to travel. One
way fair is only $45.
Here's a link to AMTRAK which shows the different
times and trains leaving.
You want to pick a train that IS NOT MARKED ACELA OR
METROLINER because those trains are special business class express trains that
cost $115 and $97 respectively. The cheapest bet is to select a regular
train like train numbers 56, 84, 174, 108, etc. These cost only $45. You can purchase tickets through the
website or even at the train station itself the day you travel -- it's unlikely
that they'll run out of seats as there are lots of these trains running all day
long.
Amtrak runs from Union Station in Washington, DC to
downtown Philadelphia's 30th St. Station.
