Leslie Jean-Pierre is currently the Project Mangager of TJP NETWORKING, INC. Prior to working at TJP Networking, Leslie was a Recruiter in the New York Regional Office of the Peace Corps, where he worked for five years. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa, from 1994-96, serving as a rural development and public health educator. Leslie is a founding member of Minority Peace Corps Association. In 1999, he created the Franklin H. Williams award, which honors outstanding Peace Corps Volunteers of color, to help increase the awareness of Peace Corps in minority communities. The award originally recognized RPCVs from the New York regional area, but has since grown to be an agency-wide event, incorporating all regions of the U.S. It is named for the former U.S. Ambassador to Ghana. Leslie is currently the webmaster of JP Association, Minority Peace Corps Association and TJP Networking, Inc.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, where he currently resides, Leslie is Haitian-American and is fluent in English and French; he is conversant in Haitian Creole, as well as in Fulani (Pulaar), which he learned while in West Africa. As a health volunteer in Guinea, Leslie introduced and taught primary healthcare in the local middle school. He encouraged rural population to take charge of their healthcare delivery system by promoting the philosophy of Primary Healthcare.
Leslie has a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from Long Island University, a Bacholors degree (BS) in Marketing from Johnson & Wales University, and a certificate in international development from the United Nations program at Long Island University. Before joining the Peace Corps, Leslie's public service career included working in the office of the mayors of Providence and Los Angeles, and for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for eight years and received is Honorable discharged in the summer of 2000.
