Marisol Perez
Marisol Pérez was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa, serving from 1994 to 1997 as a "TEFLer" (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) at LycéeBehanzin in the Fouta Djallon town of Dalaba.  She joined Peace Corps after working as a literacy tutor for youth and adults, software training in corporate financial and legal firms and working in ABC News' Political Unit in New   York.  During her time in Guinea, Marisol worked with the Guinean Institute NationalePedagogique (IPN), Section Anglais to develop and revise the English curriculum (MOBEL), was a volunteer trainer for incoming TEFL trainees and collaborated with teachers on strengthening and diversifying teaching techniques and materials development, particularly in effectively integrating health, reproductive health and specifically HIV/AIDS information and themes into lessons and life of the school.  Secondary projects included community development support in grant writing with local NGO and CBO women's groups and school infrastructural renovations.  Marisol was selected to extend her service for a third year to assume the responsibilities of Regional Coordinator for the FoutaDjallon region, based out of the town of Labé.  Subsequent to her service in Guinea, Marisol served as Head TEFL Technical Trainer and Master Trainer for Peace Corps trainings in Guinea and Burkina Faso.  

Marisol, a founding member of
Minority Peace Corps Association and native New Yorker of Ecuadorian origins, is currently an Education Specialist with Save the Children, US (SC/US), having returned to development after working in the Information Technology field as a trainer, project manager and consultant in DC and NY for several years.  Based in the US, she supports all aspects of project management for Education programming, providing technical assistance and staff development (with a focus on systems, monitoring and evaluation) for programs in the Middle East, Horn and Southern Africa and Haiti, and representing SC/US in regional, national and international fora.

Fluent in Spanish, French and Portuguese, and conversant in Pulaar, Marisol is also an accomplished musician.  She has performed with various chamber and orchestral groups in the New York area and was a founding member of the Chamber Music Program at her undergraduate school.  She received a Certificate in Music Performance from the Juilliard School, pre-college division.  Marisol holds a Master of Science in Development Management from American University and received her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations at Colgate University.
