Pictures from my Peace Corps Volunteer experience in Fiji
Me in a costume getting ready to perform a meke during swearing-in. A meke is a dance that tells a story and all Fijians learn them during childhood. Males usually perform warrior mekes, while females dance those that tell of love.
Three of us dancing a meke during training. I am in the middle.
Return to MPCA Peace Corps Stories
Me with some of the boys from one of the villages that I often visited. The boys always looked out for me during my visits including getting up before dawn to catch shrimp for my breakfast and heating water for my shower.
