Peace Corps Stories
The Minority Peace Corps Association would like to
publish your Peace Corps experiences as an African American, Asian American,
Hispanic American or Native American on our www.minoritypca.org web page under Peace
Corps Stories. If you represent one of these groups, please submit short
stories, journal entries, personal essays, poems, pictures of you at your Peace
Corps site, or submit answers to the questions listed below. The subject matter
must be related to your Peace Corps experiences as a person of color.
If you are submitting a story, submissions must have
a title, be presented on one side of an 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of paper,
and be no longer than 750 words. If you are submitting a picture(s), please
make sure your name is printed on the back of the picture(s). All submissions
must include your name, address, telephone number, current address, e-mail
address, country and years of service, and what you did in the Peace Corps,
including secondary projects.
The intent is to have interesting material published
on the web for the perspective candidate looking for specialized information
related to their interests. When writing your personal essay or answers to the
questions, please keep in mind information you would have thought useful when
applying to the Peace Corps.
Questions:
1.
Why did you join
the Peace Corps?
2.
Do you think you
have changed because of your Peace Corps experience? How?
3.
Describe your
Peace Corps experience as an African, Asian, Hispanic or Native American in
your country of service.
4.
What benefits
have you gained from joining the Peace Corps?
(When answering these questions, please provide
in-depth responses, so that perspective candidates will gain a personal insight
to the Peace Corps.)
